"I set up the site in 2021, but its history goes back much further than that, so I'll start at the beginning. I began investing in UK stocks in the mid-1990s. In the early years I was a passive index-tracking investor but after some ups and downs in the dot-com boom and bust, I switched to active investing in the mid-2000s. I started a blog called UKValueInvestor.com in 2008 because I wanted share my thoughts with other investors and to join in the conversation that was going on in the investing "blogosphere" at the time. That blog became somewhat popular and in 2012, Harriman House asked me to write a book, so I did. After four years of blood, sweat and tears, The Defensive Value Investor was finally published in 2016. Somewhere along the way (2011 to be exact) I decided to launch a monthly investment newsletter because I felt there was a lack of good educational content for UK investors who, like me, were looking for quality dividend stocks. In a somewhat hasty move, I left my career as an insurance softwar
