Headlines say US stocks retake the lead and all stock picks are a mix of 78% BUY, 13% HOLD and 9% SELL.


1. AVOID Auction Technology Group

Top performing stock pick this week is AVOID Auction Technology Group by Steve Moore in ShareProphets with a tip performance of 8%.

Auction Technology Group operates online marketplaces and provides auction platform technology. It connects bidders from around the world with auction houses and sellers. ATG operates through four segments: Arts & Antiques, Industrial & Commercial, Auction Services, and Content. The company was founded in 1971 and has offices in the UK, US, and Germany.

Auction Technology Group share price launched at 780p in 2021, rose to an all-time high of 1,576p five months later and is today at 350p.

On 4th August the company issued at RNS announcing the Acquisition of another company in this RNS. However, in his article Steve Moore questions the real story behind the announcement and argues that it is hiding a profit warning in the original accounts.

Second top performing stock pick this week is BUY Fresnillo by Berenberg with a tip performance of 8%.

Fresnillo plc is a precious metals mining company, primarily focused on silver and gold, and is the world's leading silver producer and one of Mexico's largest gold producers. Based in Mexico, Fresnillo operates several mines, including Fresnillo, Saucito, Ciénega, Herradura, Noche Buena, San Julián, and Juanicipio. The company is listed on the London and Mexican stock exchanges.

Fresnillo share price launched at 520p in 2008, rose to an all-time high of 2,150p in 2011 and is today at 1,702p.

On 5th August the company issued its half year trading update in this RNS stating strong operating and financial results. JP Morgan raised its target price to 21p from 18p AND Berenberg upped its target price to 1,700p from 1,620p.

Travis Perkins plc is a British builders' merchant and home improvement retailer with head offices based in Northampton. Founded in 1988, it is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 250 Index. Through its Toolstation subsidiary, the group also has operations in mainland Europe.

Travis Perkins share price launched at 189p in 1988, rose to an all-time high of 2,101p in 2015 and is today at 582p.

On 5th August the company issued its half year report in this RNS stating a collapse in operating profits, sales slump and missing CEO due to illness. With shares at 16 year lows, RBC Capital must spy a turnaround story bargain.
